REPORT ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA ON 21st JUNE 2021

Objective:
1. To foster physical and mental health by providing solutions through yoga
2. To inculcate a habit of meditation for peace of mind & self-awareness
3. To lead a stress-free life

Since its inception in the year 2015, June 21st is celebrated as The International Day of Yoga all over the world. This idea was proposed by our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. He said, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being.”
International Yoga Day was celebrated by the teachers at New Horizon College, Kasturinagar, with welcome speech by Ms. Jyothi J (HOD, Department of Management) virtual yoga session was conducted with great zeal and enthusiasm. Ms. Sushma Deepak (Yoga Instructor, Maanya Yoga Academy) was invited to conduct virtual yoga session through Webex platform.
The demonstration and instructions were given through audio visuals by the Guru the staff demonstrated various asanas followed by Omkar chanting. Warm up exercises were taken up and all the teachers performed Pranayama & Surya Namaskara, and importance of these were explained simultaneously. The celebration concluded with synchronized recitation of shlokas and Vote of Thanks by Ms. Jyothi J. The trainer encouraged the audience to practice yoga regularly to remain fit and improve concentration power.
Regular practice of yoga will surely help our staff to lead a healthy and peaceful life in this pandemic situation physically, mentally and spiritually.
