The Department of Commerce, New Horizon College, Kasturinagar, organised an Induction Programme on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” on 29th July 2026 for first-year B.Com students. The session was delivered by Mr. Chandresh M, an expert in Intellectual Property Rights. The programme aimed to create awareness about intellectual property, innovation, creativity, and legal protection. The resource person explained the importance and scope of IPR in the modern business environment. Students were introduced to Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, Industrial Designs, Geographical Indications, and Trade Secrets. Practical examples helped students understand the application of IPR in business and everyday life. The interactive session emphasised protecting intellectual creations and respecting creators’ rights. It encouraged students to develop innovative thinking and ethical business practices. The programme enhanced students’ awareness of IPR and its role in research, entrepreneurship, and business development.
