The Department of Commerce organised a seminar on Financial Modelling in Excel on 13 March 2026 for the students of VI Semester B.Com and BBA. The resource persons for the session were Mr Naresh K. V., Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, New Horizon College of Engineering, and Prof. Shalini S. N., Senior Assistant Professor, MBA Department, New Horizon College of Engineering. The objective of the seminar was to introduce students to the concepts of financial modelling and the use of Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and business decision-making.

During the session, the speakers explained various Excel tools and techniques used in developing financial models, forecasting financial outcomes, and analysing financial data. They also shared practical industry examples to help students understand the real-world application of financial modelling. The seminar was interactive and informative, encouraging students to participate actively and clarify their doubts.

Outcome: The seminar enhanced the students’ understanding of financial modelling and improved their analytical and Excel skills, which are essential for careers in finance and business management.
