Report

The Department of Commerce organised an industrial visit to SRP Synthetic Rubber Pvt. Ltd. to provide students with practical exposure to real-time manufacturing operations. During the visit, students observed the complete process of converting raw rubber into finished products, including mixing, moulding, vulcanisation, and final inspection.

The visit helped students connect classroom concepts with industrial practices in Production and Operations Management, such as plant layout, material handling, capacity planning, and preventive maintenance. The company’s use of inventory control and Just-in-Time techniques demonstrated how waste can be reduced and efficiency improved.

Students also gained insights into quality control measures and supply chain activities that coordinate the movement of materials from suppliers to customers. The visit further supported learning in subjects like costing, financial management, marketing, and organisational behaviour through observations of teamwork and standard operating procedures.

Overall, the industrial visit provided a clear understanding of how various management and commerce principles are applied in a real industrial environment.
