Report | The People’s Education Programme was organised on 30th March 2026 by the Multi-Disciplinary Training Centre of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Bengaluru, in association with New Horizon College, Kasturinagar. The primary objectives of the programme were to promote self-reliance, create awareness about entrepreneurship, and encourage rural development through Khadi and village industries. It also aimed to educate students about sustainable livelihood opportunities and relevant government initiatives. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Shri L. Madan Kumar Reddy, Deputy CEO (South Zone), KVIC, Bengaluru, who attended as the inaugural guest. Shri V. Bangara Nayaka, Deputy Director and Principal, MDTC, KVIC, Bengaluru, was the chief guest and presided over the programme. The presence of the guests of honour, Shri Muniswamappa, Secretary, Khadi Institution, and Shri Kempa Raju, Retired Deputy Director, KVIC, added further significance to the occasion. As part of the programme, various competitions were organised to engage students and enhance their understanding of rural development. An essay writing competition was held on 27th March 2026 on the topic “Role of KVIC in Rural Development”, where students actively participated and expressed creative and insightful ideas. A debate competition was conducted on 28th March 2026 on the topic “Youth should choose self-employment through KVIC”, during which participants presented strong arguments and demonstrated awareness of entrepreneurship. The winners of these competitions were felicitated with prizes. A key highlight of the programme was the sharing of experiences by Ms. Saranya and Ms. Vidhya Tai, beneficiaries of the Grameen Vikash Yojana. They explained how the scheme had helped them achieve financial independence and self-employment. Their inspiring stories encouraged students to explore entrepreneurial opportunities and consider alternative career paths. The dignitaries addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of rural development and self-sufficiency. The programme concluded successfully, receiving positive feedback from participants. Overall, it proved to be an informative and impactful initiative that effectively promoted self-reliance and skill development. |
