WOMEN’S CELL
WOMENS’ DAY celebration on 8th March 2017.
Women are symbol of power and Gods finest and beautiful creation without whom no creation is possible. A woman’s love is in action, she looks with her heart and feels with her eyes. A woman is the cement that keeps her family together and her love lasts for a lifetime
To celebrate this spirit of women Aaradhya the women cell of New Horizon College, Kasturinagar gathered in the auditorium on 8th March 2017. The programme began with a presentation of the activities undertaken by the cell. This was followed by a talk by the Chief Guest Dr. Shiny Bosco, from Baptist Hospital who spoke about cancer awareness and palliative care. She also motivated students to volunteer and support the patients and comfort them in their last days.
After gathering information on palliative care the mood shifted to one of fun and laughter with dance performance and songs. The teachers walked the ramp in style and got the girls to join them in a row of games that entertained the gathering. The celebration came to a close with the dance floor thumping to the tunes of Bollywood music. This was truly a combination of infotainment and entertainment.
With an initiative of inculcating service to the society humanity among students the women cell ‘Aaradhya’ of New Horizon College initiated to collect old clothes on 19th February 2017. This activity received tremendous response from students, teachers and administration staff who contributed generously and within a short span we were able to collect clothes for men, women, kids, blankets and bed sheets. The same was sorted out and packed in separate boxes. The clothes so collected was handed over on 07th march 2017 to Mr. Yashwant from an NGO called Sanman. He spoke about enormous number of children in slums and schools who didn’t have proper clothes to wear and will be greatly benefitted by this gesture of ours.
