Women empowerment cell- Aaradhya organized a webinar on ‘Indian Penal Code on Sexual Harassment at work place’

Objectives:
To educate the students about gender quality and harassment of women in the corporate world and create awareness on the laws of protection.
Harassment is a worldwide growing problem in every sector. It hinders with people’s path, career and productivity. The effects of harassment can be physical,educational and psychological and it becomes imperative to educate the youngsters on precautions and laws of harassment.
Women empowerment cell- Aaradhya of New Horizon College, Kasturinagar organized a webinar on ‘Indian Penal Code on Sexual Harassment at work place’ by JFF Rajeshwari Venkataraman, National Trainer, NLP Practioner, JCI India on 30/12/2020 at 10.00 Am through Google meet. The webinar was organized for the first year students of all streams.
After a formal welcome by Dr. Chitra K, the speaker began the session by introducing the students to different forms and places where sexual harassment takes place. She also spoke vividly to the students about harassment for both boys and girls in workplace and public places. Mrs. Rajeshwari gave valuable information about the Indian penal codes applicable for harassment for outraging the modesty of a women. The session saw active participation among the students who posed many enthusiastic questions, which the speaker addressed. The webinar ended with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Sangeetha who expressed her gratitude to the resource person for her valuable inputs.
Outcome:
The objective of the webinar was achieved as the students learnt about ways to tackle harassment in workplace and public places. They also acquired information on the various laws and penal codes applicable for such offences.
