The Department of Commerce at New Horizon College, Kasturinagar, organised a seminar on “Empowering Graduates for the IT Industry” on 14/03/2026 for the students of VI Semester B.Com. The session was delivered by Dr. V. Asha, Professor and Head of the Department of MCA at New Horizon College of Engineering. The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the career opportunities available to graduates in the IT sector.

The resource person explained the growing significance of digital and technical skills in today’s competitive job market. She discussed various career paths such as data analytics, software testing, and business analysis within the IT industry. In addition, she introduced students to the structure of the MCA programme and the subjects covered in the course. Subjects highlighted included Computational Mathematics, Programming with C, Object-Oriented Programming with Java, Computer Networks, Linux Operating System, and Database Management Systems.

Dr. Asha emphasised the importance of practical learning through laboratory sessions and continuous skill development. The seminar enabled students to understand the relevance of higher education, such as an MCA, for entering the IT field. Overall, the session was informative and encouraged students to develop technical skills and explore career opportunities in the IT industry.
