Career Guidance in Aviation Industry

Date: 28/02/2019
Time: 11:10 AM

Department of Commerce and Career Counselling Cell conducted a session on “Career Guidance in Aviation Industry” on 28/2/2019 at 11:10am for the students of VI Sem B.Com and II Sem BBA. The Resource Person was Mr. Imran Syed, Director of Fledge Institute of Aviation and Hospitality.

The program enabled the students to know the enormous benefits to communities and economies around the globe through Aviation Sector. The Certification program at Fledge Institute would enable the students to be a perfect candidate to excel in the Airline Industry in India and abroad. He also emphasized that India is the fourth largest civil aviation market in the world having a potential of becoming third largest aviation market by 2020. It recorded air traffic of 131 million passengers in 2016, of which 100 million were domestic passengers.
Working in aviation, whether we are referring to working for an airline or working for an airport means you’ll be working as part of a huge, varied team.

The combination of skills required and the fact that every major city in the world has an airport means that jobs for airlines and airports are accessible to those looking to pursue their career in aviation. But what attracts candidates to these roles in the first place?

1.Travel opportunities

The obvious answer here is the travel opportunities a job in aviation can offer. Whilst working for an airline can be very demanding, it’s hard to find a better industry for travel opportunities. Some of the jobs themselves require extensive travel; pilots for example could visit as many as ten cities on several different continents in one five day shift! And the travel opportunities are there for when you’re off the clock too.

2.Meet New People

Working for an airline or airport because it gives them the opportunity to meet new people on a daily basis.

3.The Opportunity to Develop Career

As a business it’s in the best interest of airlines and airports that their employees are continually developing, so they ensure that they offer their employees training and career development. Along with annual reviews, some offer an annual financial incentive scheme to ensure that their employees’ contributions are recognised.

4.Lifestyle Benefits

Airlines and airports also recognise how important it is that their employees enjoy life outside of work too to ensure their happiness at work.
